The KS-525-THX uses Klipsch Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST),which enables it to deliver a unique combination of diffusion and coverage, yielding the benefits of both diffuse- and directradiating surround speakers with the drawbacks of neither. Listeners enjoy the deep, enveloping surround sound field characteristic of diffuse-radiating designs together with the precise localization of specific effects typically provided only by direct-radiating models. The WDST array comprises two 1-inch titanium-dome compression driver tweeters loaded by 5- inch square 90° x 60° Tractrix Horns and two 5.25-inch Cerametallic cone woofers. Each woofer/tweeter set is on an angled baffle facing opposite the other, with the tweeters on a diagonal to one another to minimize interference between their outputs. The tweeter is the same as used in the KL-650- THX and KL-525-THX LCR speakers, and the woofer is the same as used in the KL-525-THX, ensuring a seamlessly cohesive sound field from front to rear.
